Value Series FAQs

• How much does it cost for extra bandwidth?
  The value series comes with 50GB per month included. Additional bandwidth can be purchased at $1 per GB per month. Over usage is charged at $2.50 per GB.
   
• Are the servers located in the same data center as my current VPS?
  Yes
   
• Do I have to change IP address if I move to a dedicated server from my current VPS?
  Yes and No. If you are simply migrating a VPS to a dedicated Node then we can keep the same address ranges. If you are not keeping your VPS then you will need to change IP addresses. 
   
• What choice of Operating System do I have?
  • Windows Server 2003
  • Windows Server 2008
  • Centos 5
  • Ubuntu 8
  • Debian 5

• Can I have Plesk with it?
  Yes. Select during the order process or email sales@web24.com.au with your requirements.
   
• Can I have Virtuozzo with it?
  Yes. However you will need a custom quote depending on how many VEs. Please email sales@web24.com.au with your requirements.
   
• How many VPSs could I run on the server?
  The number of VPSs (Virtuozzo) depends on the load of each VPS. As a general rule, we would recommend 3 VPS's on the Value Series (RAM=8GB, CPU=Quadcore). After that we would recommend you migrate to the Premium Series. Email your requirements to sales@web24.com.au
   
• Can I have cPanel with it?
  Yes. Select during the order process or email sales@web24.com.au with your requirements.
   
• Can I run Direct Admin on it?
  Yes, but Web24 does not supply or install this.
   
• You say the server is $129 but when I clicked on order it the order said $228.
  The value series server is $129 per month. However in the first month only you will also see the $99 setup fee. Total is 129 + 99 = $228 + GST
   
• What port speed is the server connected to?
  The network interface is 100Mbit/s Ethernet
   
• Is the firewall a separate device or does it use IPTables on the server.
  The firewall is a separate device. It has nothing to do with your dedicated server and does not use IPTables.
   
• How long until I get my server?
  We are aiming to deliver servers in 5-10 business days but kindly allow us up to 14 days, to allow for peaks in demand.
   
• Can I have my server backed up?
  Yes, however we normally require that you be running Virtuozzo. This offers significant operational benefits. Please email sales@web24.com.au with your requirements.
   
• Can I have my server fully managed?
  Yes, however we normally require that you be running Virtuozzo. This offers significant operational benefits. Please email sales@web24.com.au with your requirements.
   
• What is the quality of the servers?
  The value series is aimed for customers who want an entry level dedicated server but still need high quality and reliability. The servers are 19 inch rackmounted 1 RU with genuine Intel CPUs, A Grade RAM and either Western Digital or Seagate drives. Quad fans with dual ball bearings for superior cooling.
   
• Can I have remote reboot access (e.g Dell DRAC)?
  The Value Series does not have this option. Choose from the Premium Series if you need this.
   
• What software can you supply on the server?

• Can I get a discount if I pay upfront for more than one month?
  Yes. Please email sales@web24.com.au for a custom quote.
  • 1 month pre-pay - no discount
  • 3 month pre-pay -10% discount on server rental
  • 6 month pre-pay - 12.5% discount on server rental
  • 12 month pre-pay - 15% discount on server rental
     
• How may IP addresses do I get? Can I buy more?
  A /29 (255.255.255.248) network is allocated to the server. This provides 5 usable public IP addresses. More addresses can be obtained with justification. A /28 (255.255.255.240) network provides 13 usable addresses plus the gateway.
   
• Can I install my own software on the dedicated server?
  Yes. However, the software and licensing is your responsibility. In the case of a managed server/VPS, then we will restore back to the last state but we do not try and diagnose the 3rd party software.
